Is Using One Social Media Platform Enough?

As a business owner, you might be wondering if using one social media platform is enough for you to establish a strong online presence. Truth be told, in most cases, it is not. In competitive markets, companies need to employ every advantage they can, and using more than one platform is a part of this.

The Business Profile

Some people might argue that having a robust business profile is enough to make your company succeed. They often cite LinkedIn as an example. With LinkedIn, you can pick up work, show off work history, make business connections, and more. If you are a small business, you might very well be able to make ends meet, which would give credence to this argument, but there is a lot you would be missing out on by neglecting other platforms and tools.

The Blog Account

One of the most useful social media tools is the blog account. The proof? Just look at Twitter, the world’s most popular microblog. With its over 320 million monthly active users, it is too important to ignore. Not only does it allow you to share company news and keep up with current trends, but it also gives you an opportunity to engage customers in a holistic and powerful way. Simply put, Twitter is vital for your business. It does have some downsides, however. There are many people who still do not have accounts, running ads on Twitter can be very challenging, and your character count is limited, which makes it somewhat difficult when you want to convey complex ideas.

The People-Based Platform

Another incredibly useful tool for business owners is the “people-based platform,” the biggest of which is Facebook. While other platforms offer unique benefits, Facebook is all about friends and your social circle. Although business is not the central focus, it gives you a wide range of options about how to show off your products and services and is a great way to connect with customers. As a business owner, you need a Facebook page. Just keep in mind that the business side of Facebook can be hard to navigate. It can quickly turn into a quagmire of fake accounts, false leads, and business scams.
